Wear My Wardrobe Out

Sustainable Fashion as a Service

Fast fashion vs Slow fashion. Sustainable fashion. Circular fashion.
All these are buzzwords at the moment, and are becoming increasingly more important within the fashion community.

It's now widely acknowledged that the fashion industry is a major contributor to emissions, which obviously in turn affects global warming. The industry as a whole produces 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 per year. That's more than the aviation and shipping industries combined.
I don’t want to sound like I’m getting all "Greta" about it, but the facts are hard to ignore.

The other major impact is the amount of low cost clothing worn only a few times, and ending up in landfill somewhere around the world. Recent studies have estimated that 60% of new clothing is thrown away in the same year that it is purchased. Not to mention the exploitation of the workers within the supply chain of fast fashion companies. Nobody can argue against the fact that to produce low cost garments, costs have to be cut throughout the entire supply chain. It may seem a good idea to keep buying from that cheap Chinese brand, force fed to you by Generation Z produced YouTube "hauls" (you know the one i mean...), but the facts cannot be ignored.

Ironically, those aiding the fast fashion industry by assisting with their marketing will be the ones who see a huge change to their way of life within their lifetimes, due to global warming.

That’s where companies like Wear My Wardrobe Out come in.

I recently had the chance to work with a set of wardrobe kindly supplied by Wear My Wardrobe Out, who are a curated fashion rental, repair, and re-wear service based in Bristol, who provide a service throughout the UK.

Founded in January 2021, Wear My Wardrobe Out provides an affordable fashion rental service which contributes to the reduction of fashion wastage. By recycling and upcycling (where feasibly possible) end of life, pre-loved high quality fashion and vintage items, they contribute to slowing down throwaway fashion, which in turn reduces emissions.
